Plein Air Art Festival

Artists from across Ontario are invited to participate in the first annual Plein Air Festival in Grey-Bruce. Hosted by the Saugeen River Artist Guild, with the support of Hanover’s Innovative Peoples Program, this four-day event will run Thursday July 20 through Sunday July 24, 2022, culminating with a juried art show and sale at the Hanover Community Hall on Sunday. Over $1,000 in festival prizes will be awarded  with an additional eight category prices supported by local businesses and organizations are available for sponsorship.

Registration for professional, amateur, and student artists opens in March by visiting www.saugeenartists.com . Local businesses and professionals are encouraged to support this arts and tourism initiative by sponsoring a prize category. Additional Information:

  • “Plein Air” means painting outdoors. Many festivals of this type are held each year across Ontario.

  • Participating artists will travel and stay along the Grey Rd 4 corridor from Durham to Walkerton painting local venues across the area

  • All artwork is completed entirely outdoors. Finished work will be submitted Saturday evening and hung at the Hanover Community Hall.

  • A jury of respected plein air artists will assess the work. Prizes in the following categories will be awarded:

    • 1st 2nd and 3rd Overall Festival awards

    • 7 category awards

    • 1 youth award

    • Opportunity for local businesses or individuals to sponsor and define their own award
