Ian Fisher’s first byline appears in his birth notice—‘Boy Arrives at Fishers’—that for 90% of his life hung framed on a pine-panelled wall in Montréal, and now hibernates in an L.L.Bean tote in a hall closet in Pacific Heights. Ian’s newspaperman father had borrowed the name he gave Ian as his own 𝑛𝑜𝑚 𝑑𝑒 𝑔𝑢𝑒𝑟𝑟𝑒.
