Five Make the Shortlist for our June Writing Contest

We are so pleased to announce that FIVE writers have made the shortlist for our June 2022 Write Prompt Challenge.

We try to choose images that can take authors in countless directions, and the image of a city street with muli-coloured buildings took people to some interesting places. These writers approached the provided image with wonderfully unique views that were clever, surprising, and touching.

Congratulations to Lori Green, Lindsey Harrington, Sarah Law, Jennifer Reichow, and Rachel Xie — we wish you well as you go on to the final stage of judging!

Lori Green | shortlisted for the story, 'In the Absence of Colour'

Lori Green is a Canadian writer who has been writing poetry and dark fiction since she first picked up a pen. Her work has been accepted in various publications including Ghost Orchid Press, Dark Rose Press, Black Hare Press, Love Letters to Poe, and more. She studied English Literature at the University of Western Ontario and now lives along the shores of Lake Erie with her husband and daughter. She is currently working on her first novel. Sarah Law | shortlisted for the story, 'Skid Marks'

Sarah Law is a reporter for the Gravenhurst Banner newspaper and lives in Muskoka, Ontario. She enjoys writing, running, and playing with her cats, Luna and Panda.

Jennifer Reichow | shortlisted for the story, '1/30th of a Second'

Jennifer Reichow grew up in a home overflowing with classic 1960s and 70s pulp fiction novels that inspired her love of reading. As a child, she knew she would go to university and be a writer, but as so often happens, life had other plans for her. It’s only after careers in retail and nursing Jennifer is realizing her dream of becoming a writer. It feels like coming home.

Rachel Xie | shortlisted for the story, 'A Geocentric Model of Light'

Rachel Xie lives in Toronto, Ontario, where she studies Computer Science and History of Science at the University of Toronto. In her free time, she writes poetry and short stories, and reads every vampire book she can get her hands on.

Watch for our announcement of the top three in the coming weeks!
