Four Make the Shortlist for our September Writing Contest

We are so pleased to announce that FOUR* writers have made the shortlist for our September Write Prompt Challenge.

We try to choose images that can take authors in countless directions, and the photo of a winter train in the fog took people to some interesting places. These writers approached the provided image with wonderfully unique views that were clever and surprising.

Congratulations to Lori Green, Kerri McCourt, Marie Pascual, and Doris von Tettenborn — we wish you well as you go on to the final stage of judging!

Lori Green| shortlisted for the story, 'Midnight Journey on a Train Going Anywhere'

Lori Green writes poetry and speculative fiction. She has been published with Off Topic Publishing, Blank Spaces Magazine, Quill & Crow Publishing, and many more. She lives along the shores of Lake Erie and Lake Huron, weaving magic wherever she goes.
She is currently working on her first novel.

Her work explores food, memory, and migration, and has appeared in CBC and soon to be published with Canada’s National Observer. She is currently developing a series of essays and reported features on labour, family, and cultural inheritance.

Doris von Tettenborn| shortlisted for the story, 'Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep'

Doris lives in the shadow of the Alberta Rocky Mountains and is grateful for her mountain panorama sunset views. She savours being retired with time to garden, write and play with her granddaughters. Watch for our announcement of the top three in the coming weeks!

Enter our next contest!

*Sadly, we did have five stories selected to share with the judges, but despite numerous attempts, we couldn’t make contact with the author and had to move forward without them. If you are entering any of our contests, or submitting work for consideration, please make sure you’re checking your spam folder to ensure our emails aren’t ending up there. We hate to see anyone left out, but sometimes have to make tough decisions like this to continue to meet our publishing calendar.
