Gary Kirchner
Gary Kirchner, writer
Gary J. Kirchner holds a Master’s degree in sports biomechanics. He played and coached football at McGill for three decades, and taught physics at the college and high school levels during the same period. He is a competitive cross-country skier, and also enjoys participating in triathlon and curling. His flute-playing is earnest, if not skilful. Gary has recently published his first book, the dystopian fiction Cromby’s Axiom.
Twenty-Three Yards — Volume 6, Issue 2
Gary Kirchner put us into the mind of a Canadian offensive tackle during the final play of his football career, exposing the under-appreciated mental struggle of a lineman, and a pure love of the game in his high velocity story, Twenty-Three Yards.
Pour yourself a nice steaming cup and settle in to get to know Gary Kirchner a little better.
“One of the highlights of my whole writing career was getting a response…saying that my story was going to be published in Blank Spaces. To say it gave a boost to my confidence and to my writing energy stores would be an understatement. My wife wrote me a note which says, “Congratulations! You did it!”, which is still pinned to the door of my workroom. I see it every day.“
